Last Weekend, Finally....

I already told you we had a blast. We were up at Lake Chelan, at Wapato Point, in a 2 room condo with our friends Dawn, Alex, and Kenzie. Four kids in one condo. It was crazy, but everyone got along and had so much fun.
We drove up Friday night, getting in around 10:30. Ethan, and Alex never slept. Crazy. We made one stop for dinner, but other than that just drove....
The next morning all the kids were revving to go bright and early.

We checked out the playground in our backyard - fabulous! And then toured the facilities....

We went for a chilly morning swim, though it really wasn't too cold as long as you kept moving. The boys did really well with their "puddle-jumpers" though they looked ridiculous.

Snack time was always yummy and messy. Kenzie liked to decorate the floor like a good one-year old.

Mini golf was super fun. Each kid had their own method of golfing....

And my favorite - just shove it in...

We ate food that only families with toddlers would love - mac and cheese, pizza, fruit, bread.... delicioso!

After the boys' naps (Alex was still sleeping) we went for another quick swim. Ethan was able to jump in all by himself with his floater on and swim back to the side. What a big kid!

Next we headed to "driftwood painting" down at the rec center.

We played some more at the mini golf and the three youngest found a squirrel! They were fascinated. Me too.

That night we decided to try the indoor pool because sun-screening four kids is a pain in the neck. We had a blast. The kids all took turns riding on my back as I went back and forth and splashing everyone.

I do believe that was the night that Lucas and Ethan locked us out of the room. I had to go outside and bang on the window because they were ignoring me. It finally got unlocked though I'm not sure how. They'd done it at naptime too, the stinkers.

The next morning we tried out the dollar store water guns. Not so effective, but still fun.

Alex preferred squirting the ball - very kind.

We went for one last swim before we left. There was another family there that was lacking some social graces, but we still managed to have fun. Lots of jumping in and pushing Kenzie around in her floatie.

Someday Ethan is going to be ticked at me for making him wear that ridiculous floating thingy, but it really worked and allowed him to be totally independent in the water. And that he loved.

Brian was the only one grumpy about being at the pool so much. He apparently doesn't have gills like the rest of us.

Kenzie was so tired she fell asleep right in the water in her mama's arms. So sweet.

So yeah, we had fun!

And now - school is out and my crazy exhausting week is over! Bittersweet, but I'll totally enjoy the time to rest - for a few weeks anyway. I'm already planning and plotting for next year in my head!

AND GRAMMY AND GRANDPA ARE ON THEIR WAY HERE RIGHT NOW!!!!! WAHOO!!!!!!

I know.....

I have not disappeared - I promise! It is just the last week of school and I have a million and one things going on. We've been prepping Talent Show stuff every night as well as problem-solving my students' PowerPoint portfolios of the year. It's taken a LOT of time - but well worth it. I have managed to grow a salad.... Not that I've been home to actually eat it. Tomorrow is the last day - then my sanity should be somewhat restored. Plus we have Grammy and Grandpa coming! So exciting!

I'll be back soon - I promise. I have great pictures of our adventures last week and all sorts of stories about Ethan's massive crush on his teacher - the teacher he must say good-bye to tomorrow. I'm sure there will be a scene. My boy he has a big heart.

Almost the End...

Weather has been fabulous.... making all of those end of the year tasks that much tougher to get done! Last weekend we played outside a lot! The boys love playing with all the bikes the previous renters left (along with all of ours - we look like a daycare outside...)
Lucas and Ethan pulled out all the "gym" equipment from the basement too - as well as the duvet cover that they laid down on.

Saturday morning Ethan started ice skating. He was kind of nervous when we got there - especially when I told him that there is quite a bit of falling when you first start ice skating.

But he loved it. He kept at it, moving ever so slowly, and improved so much over the half hour.

I thought he would be frustrated and want to give up, but it was the opposite. He loved it!

Later that afternoon, we went rollerskating with Nadia and Sonia. I think the kids liked the arcade games more, but it was fun.

Lucas, however, was not a fan at all. He just wanted to be held, which led to Brian getting in trouble with the rink police.

Afterwards we were treated to delicious homeade pizza! The kids loved being served through the kitchen window! Ethan was way overdressed and had to borrow Nadia's tank top - hilarious!

We did fondue for dessert and ate way too much. Yum.

On our way home we gained a new family member. Meet Alpha, our Betta. He and Lucas are good friends - though he pretty much just hides in his tree.

This week was crazy. Pure crazy. I'm getting ready for report cards, end of year projects, and the talent show at school. Stressed out mommy means stressed out kids! We've all needed a few time outs. These suckers from Miss Nancy cracked me up!

And tonight Ethan made a poster for share day. I love it. He's gotten so good with cutting! I could not believe how straight it all was. I was also impressed he didn't give up writing out the names. He doesn't usually like to write more than a word or two at a time. So proud.

Last Weekend....

Last weekend we had a blast! Somehow we managed to then make it through this insane week.... Sometimes 4 day weeks just come at the totally wrong time... So much to do these last few weeks of school! But I will persevere! (And drink a lot of coffee....) So now back to last weekend...
Saturday was date night for Brian and I to celebrate our anniversary. We went out to dinner and then to the Rock and Bowl! Bad karaoke, bad bowling, and horrendous chocolate cake, but it was really a lot of fun.
Sunday we lazed on over to my parents to get the boys and have a BBQ with Nana. Delicious and fun! Next stop was home for naps and then to a local park to hang out with the Barrys. We wanted some "beach" time - though the beach wasn't quite what I remembered/expected....

Lucas liked collecting water.... until the waves started crashing in pretty good...

Pretty soon the water was creeping up.... but they didn't mind...

We picnic -ed in the park and the kids ran around everywhere... They even got Jr. Ranger stickers from the park ranger. We had a lot of laughs - lots of fun!

The next day we spent the morning at our garden. Lots of growth! Still nothing to harvest but we planted lots more seeds and a few lettuce plants.

We picnic-ed again in the sun! Who knew WA could be so beautiful!

Lucas worked on his soccer skills... We have a bit of work to do there....

After naps, we invited over the Burns family and brought out all the outside toys - including a kite! There was only a small run to do with it, because there's just not a lot of space, but it was fun nonetheless...

The kids had a blast - knocking over food left and right - playing blocks, bean bag toss, hot wheels, and everything in between.

So all in all, it was a weekend full of sunshiney weather and sunshiney people!

Then the work week came. Insanity, pure insanity. But fun too - the highlight was my school BBQ on Thursday night. The boys picked out books from the bookfair, played on the playground, ate hot dogs, and admired my science projects. They DID not want to meet the school mascot - Ollie the Otter.

This weekend I have a milliion and three things to do, so I'll get to working on them. Must focus. Only two more weeks of school left! I can't believe it!
